Dr Vanus James is a former Senior Policy Advisor, UNDP, and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) International Consultant. He also served as Senior Research Fellow in the Scotiabank Chair in Entrepreneurship & Development and Adjunct Distinguished Professor of Economics / Econometrics, University of Technology, Jamaica. Dr. James is the author of three WIPO reports measuring the contribution of copyright-based industries to Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and the OECS as well as author of the UNECLAC manual “The Design and Conduct of Public Expenditure Reviews in Caribbean Countries”. He is also the co-author of the recently published book, Competing for Development: Perspectives on Self-Sustaining Growth for Caribbean Economies. The central theses of his published works in refereed journals and books is that the main development problem of Caribbean countries is that the domestic capital sector is too small.
