How Aegis and Eve Anderson teamed up to administer online training for teachers and why you should too.
Since the start of the pandemic, our teachers were presented several challenges to teaching online. Recruitment agency, Eve Anderson Recruitment in collaboration with business outsourcing firm, Aegis Business Solutions, partnered with Education Solution Specialists to sponsor 12 teachers for training.
We sat down with Raenika Butts, General Manager of Education Solution Specialists to discuss the challenges with online learning, how their ‘Teacher Engagement program’ is a solution, and why more businesses should be excited to sponsor this program.
With the rapid transition to online schooling, teachers had limited time to adjust and learn the appropriate techniques for effective teaching online. This meant that many teachers had to “learn by fire” and apply as they went along. For teachers that were unable to rise to the challenge of online learning, their students endured the consequences.
Raenika explained the problem further, ‘Teachers teach online, the same way they taught in person.’ This created a drastic disconnect between teachers and students, and students were left feeling disengaged and unmotivated.
Education Solution Specialists’ Teacher Engagement Program solved this. The program’s goal is to develop our teachers’ ability to deliver quality education aligned with 21st Century standards. In this program, teachers were taught how to use the SMART learning suite, a desktop Digital Lesson Creation & Content Development platform. Using this tool, they learnt how to create comprehensive lesson plans, game-based activities and collaborative workspaces.

“In my online sessions, I want to be able to fully engage my students’ attention. I particularly like Module two of this course. I thoroughly enjoyed trying the various apps to improve the students’ engagement in the online classroom. I am very excited to try these ideas. I have actually, started creating games and quizzes for them. I tried the quiz in Kahoots! and they were asking for more” says Marsha Luke from Tabaquite R.C School.
